RIO NEW YEAR’S 2027 🇧🇷

New Year’s Eve in Rio. Three nights. One big group of people who probably haven’t met yet.

Designed for people in their 20s and 30s, this trip is all about experiencing one of the world’s most iconic New Year celebrations while making a load of new friends along the way.

We have two housing options available, either staying together in central Rio, or a bit further out. We will be kicking things off with a welcome beach party and Brazilian rodízio, exploring the city, visiting Christ the Redeemer and, of course, spending New Year’s Eve dressed in white on Copacabana Beach: drinks flowing, music playing and fireworks going off over the ocean at midnight.

Everything is organised enough that you don’t have to worry about what you’re doing or who you’re doing it with, but relaxed enough that you can dip in and out of activities and do your own thing whenever you fancy.

Coming alone? Perfect. That’s kind of the point.

By the time New Year’s Eve comes around, you’ll already have a whole group to celebrate it with.

WHO’S IT FOR?

This trip is designed for people in their 20s and 30s who like solo travel/meeting new people.

You absolutely don’t need to know anyone before coming. Whether you’re travelling solo, new to group trips or simply have friends who don’t fancy flying to Brazil for New Year's.... you're welcome.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

🏠 3 nights in Rio

We have 2 accommodations available for the trip which can both be seen here

Option 1) Three nights in a fun, comfortable hostel right in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. There’s a bar, lounge, shared kitchen, free Wi-Fi, minimarket, games room, evening entertainment and live music, so there are plenty of places to carry on hanging out with the group between activities.

Option 2) Three nights in a relaxed shared Somewhere House with a private pool with up to 8 other club members. Everyone gets their own bed, with shared living spaces to hang out, get ready and make the place your home for the trip. Located around 45 minutes from Copacabana by metro.

🍻 Welcome Beach Party

Free-flowing beers, ciders and soft drinks at our first-night beach party. We’ll have some light games and genuinely non-awkward icebreakers to get everyone talking.

🥩 Brazilian Rodízio + Caipirinha

A full rodízio dinner at a gorgeous beachside restaurant overlooking Sugarloaf Mountain, with a caipirinha included for everyone.

🤍 Copacabana NYE Beach Party

We’ll celebrate New Year’s Eve together on Copacabana Beach, surrounded by Rio’s legendary NYE atmosphere.

Free-flowing beers, ciders and soft drinks, snacks, music and our own meeting point before joining the beachfront celebrations, concerts and midnight fireworks.

🇧🇷 Christ the Redeemer

Return transport to and from the hostel plus entry to visit one of the most famous landmarks in the world: Christ the Redeemer. Don't worry, for the guests in the house, I'll arrange transport to pick you up from there and drop you home after the excursion.

You’ll be added to the trip group chat before we leave, so you can introduce yourself, see who else is coming and start getting to know everyone before Rio.

You can book by yourself without having to worry about planning New Year’s Eve, finding like-minded people to hang out with or awkwardly trying to make friends once you arrive.

🇧🇷 THE ITINERARY

WEDNESDAY 30 DEC — WELCOME TO RIO💫

Arrive, check in and get settled. Then it’s time to meet everyone you’ll be spending New Year’s with.

🌴 6PM — WELCOME BEACH PARTY

We’ll meet at Copacabana beach for our first night together.

Beers, ciders and soft drinks are on us. We’ll have music, a few easy ways to get everyone talking, and plenty of time to hang out on the beach and meet the group.

No awkward introductions. Just turn up, grab a drink and meet some new faces.

🥩 9PM — BRAZILIAN RODÍZIO

From the beach, we’ll head together to a nearby restaurant for a proper Brazilian rodízio.

Dinner is included in your trip, along with your first caipirinha. 🇧🇷🍹

After dinner, the night is yours. Stay out for drinks, head back for an early night before NYE, or carry on hanging out together in the hostel social areas.

THURSDAY 31 DEC — NEW YEAR’S EVE 🤍

🇧🇷 9AM — CHRIST THE REDEEMER

For anyone who wants to tick off Rio’s most famous landmark, transport will pick you up to head up to the iconic Christ Redeemer.

Your train ticket is included in the trip.

We’ll aim to be back down the mountain around 1pm so there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the afternoon before getting ready for the big night.

🏖️ 1:30PM — OPTIONAL BEACH HANGOUT

Not doing Christ? Or fancy heading straight back to the beach afterwards?

We’ll have an optional meeting point with inflatables and games for anyone who wants to swim, tan, play around or just lie on the beach and recover from the night before.

Come and go whenever you want.

🎨 3PM — OPTIONAL SANTA TERESA WALK

We’ll also be walking from the hostel towards the famous Selarón Steps, before exploring the surrounding Santa Teresa area.

Take some photos, wander the streets, browse independent shops and boutiques, and pick up some Brazilian snacks along the way.

No formal tour... just exploring Rio together.

🤍 7PM — COPACABANA WHITE PARTY

This is the big one.

We’ll meet on Copacabana Beach dressed in white for New Year’s Eve.

You’ll get your little Somewhere Club NYE gift bag before we settle in for the evening with drinks, music and plenty of photos to remember the night.

Then we join Rio.

Expect a packed Copacabana, beachfront concerts, music everywhere and the famous midnight fireworks over the ocean.

🌊 MIDNIGHT — SEVEN WAVES

When the clock strikes twelve, anyone who wants to can head into the sea and take part in the Brazilian New Year tradition of jumping seven waves and making seven wishes.

Then?

Party for as long as you want.

There’s no scheduled finish. Stay out until 1am, 4am, sunrise... you’re in Rio.

FRIDAY 1 JAN — NEW YEAR'S DAY 🌴

No alarms. No itinerary. No ambitious sightseeing.

It’s New Year’s Day. You may well have been out until the early hours after Copacabana, so I wouldn't put anything non-refundable in the morning.

☕ MORNING — OPTIONAL BREAKFAST

If you’re alive and functioning, we’ll have an optional walk to a local spot for açai, coffee and breakfast.

Or sleep.

Both are completely acceptable.

🏖️ BEACH — MEETING POINTS

We'll have optional meeting points at Ipanema beach for those who want to meet up with the group, try some watersports or snorkelling, sunbathe, have a hair-of-the-dog cocktail or swim in the sea.

Feel free to take the day to do some more exploring, sight-seeing, yoga, shopping and eating delicious food with the group. We have no strict plans, the day is yours!

I will give some recommendations to the group.

🌅 SUNSET — GAMES AND CHATS

We'll have an optional meeting point at the Aproador rocks where we can watch our final sunset, play games, chat about the evening before, with takeaway pizzas to share and soft drinks.

SATURDAY 2ND JAN — ADEUS, RIO ✈️

Check out, say goodbye to the group and head back home.

🧳 11AM — CHECKOUT

Check out of the accommodation at 11am.

If your flight isn’t until later, stick around, head back to the beach, grab lunch with your new friends or squeeze a little more Rio out of the trip.

Then it’s time to head home.

PS: What happens if not enough people book?

We want this to feel like a proper Somewhere Club group trip.

If we don't reach a good number of people for the experience to work as intended, we'll cancel the trip and refund everyone.

So you don't need to worry about arriving in Rio and discovering that the “big group trip” consists of you and two other people staring at each other over a caipirinha.
